Meet Mr. Olson

 

 

 

 

     I currently teach middle school science at Rockdale Elementary School and coach baseball, volleyball, and science club.  I started at Rockdale at the start of the 2014-15 school year.
 
     I had taught junior high science Hinckley-Big Rock Middle School for 9 years and was Grant Coordinator at East Aurora School District in 2012. I started at Big Rock Elementary School in 2002. I also coached the High School Baseball for the 4 years, track coach 2002-2008, Science Club Coach, and was the Outdoor Education Coordinator.
     
     I graduated from the University of Dubuque (Iowa) in 2002. In 2006, I received my Masters Degree from Walden University. Before college and teaching, I graduated from Yorkville High School in Yorkville, IL (1998). I currently live in Yorkville, IL with my wife Stephanie. I also have a daughter Ella that was born April of 2006 and son Mark born Jan. 2009.
   
     I'm also a cancer survior. I spent most of 2013 beating Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma.  It is a rare and very aggressive form of non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
   
      Finally,  I'm the author and illustrator of several children's pictures book which can be found on this website in book print and digital format.   The stories are inspired tales from those that I would tell my kids at night.   Some of the books are in local libraries and can also be found at books stores like Barnes and Noble and Anderson Book Store.
